Dog Insurance Reviews
It has been said very often that "Dogs are man's best friends." This explains why many people treat them endearingly. If you are a dog lover, you would want your dog to live longer, so you take care of your pet well. One way of doing this, is to get a Dog Insurance.
You may think that since you are taking good care of your dog, you will not need insurance anymore. The question is accidents happen and at times, you do not have any control over them, so it is still crucial that you take out a Dog Insurance for your pet.
What is a Dog Insurance?
This is an insurance that covers the medical expenses of your dog when injured or involved in an accident. Generally, it does not cover other veterinary services like neutering, deworming and vaccinations.
Most Dog Insurance policies will provide hospitalisation boarding fees, advertising and recovery charges, holiday cancelation, and legal fees for an attorney when your dog has injured a third party.
Types and cost of Dog Insurance
Top Level Policy - this refers to a lifetime cover that would ensure you can claim the cost of your dog's veterinary fees for the whole year as long as you renew your policy every 12 months. It is the most expensive because it has the longest duration.
Mid-Level Policy - this policy covers the treatment of your dog within a maximum set amount. An example is when your policy provides £4,000 per condition or illness of your dog. The advantage of this policy is that it has no time frame, as long as you do not consume the set limit of £4,000. It is also less expensive than the Lifetime Policy.
Factors affecting the cost of your Dog Insurance
Age - Dog Insurance companies accept dogs that are 9 years old and below. The maximum age for acceptance is 9. You may want to verify by asking your Dog Insurance Company. The older your dog, the more expensive will be the cost of the insurance.
Pedigree - the cost will also depend upon whether your dog is the pedigree or not. Majority of non-pedigree dogs live longer and are healthier than their pedigree counterpart.
Area where you live - if you are living in an urban area, your Dog Insurance would cost more than when you are living in the rural areas. This is because your dog has less chances of figuring in an accident if your pet is located in the rural areas.
You may want to obtain insurance when your dog is younger so you could take advantage of the less expensive plan. Do not hesitate to inquire about each company's policy to get the best out of your Dog Insurance.
Ascertaining that your dog has insurance is one way of protecting you and your dog from excessive veterinary fees later on. It would also save you a lot of time and money because the benefits that you obtain from your Dog Insurance are worth more than the cost.
